I just recently had my '87 in the shop because it would not start. The mechanic found that the sidestand switch was at fault. I wonder if the '86 light switch is the same switch as the '87 kill switch? If so, what they did to mine was to wire around the switch, the mechanic said that the switch cost $58.00 so he wasn't going to put it on. It worked and my Savage runs great now!
